The wheel of life has turned me, as it does us all, from one world to the next to the next to the next. With each turning, I’ve unfolded fresh perspectives, skills, and dreams.
I started my professional career as a philosophy professor, which was a time where I learned to question the abstractions of life, the universe at large. When I left that behind to travel the world, those abstractions became inherently more personal and subjective. I expanded my palette for food, beauty, connection, and humanity. This quest led me to my love of photography.
My journey in photography started as it does for many photographers - to document something outside the self. However, I found myself getting bored of capturing people, places, and things in a way that chases realism. It doesn’t jive with my general worldview or sense of creativity. I’ve since strived to create images that have elements of subjectivity and how I experience the place. What is the feeling? What is the magic of light, color, and form? How can I express that and expand the art of photography beyond its traditions?

2016 - Started shooting with a professional grade DSLR
2017 - Completed the Austin School of Photography
2018 - Began a career as a portrait photographer
2020 - Transitioned to boudoir photography
2021 - Created original techniques for fine art landscape
2022 - Shown at the Hilliard Gallery in their Contemporary Abstraction show
INSPIRATION
I’ve always been inspired by the works of impressionist and surrealist painters, as they highlight the dreamlike state of the world. My greatest inspiration, however, is Georgia O’Keefe. I always loved her works for being thoroughly and unapologetically feminine.
TECHNIQUES
For my fine art works, I use layering and digital painting techniques to blend traditional photography with abstract images I captured of the scene. These are techniques that I have originally created to express my vision and feeling of the world.
